Dubrovnik

guletcruisedubrovnik

Dubrovnik is situated at the foot of Srđ hill (412m) from cape Orsula to Rijeka dubrovačka.

It is one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations with a very attractive old town that is surrounded by mighty towers. These 1940 meter long stone walls have been attracting guests for decades, as well as film directors Only last year they were the scene of the second season of HBO serial The throne game.

The line of Dubrovnik walls bordered by a five angelled tower at sea and land is one of the best known pictures of this city. From the preserved documents the construction of the present day city walls are believed to have been started at the end of the twelfth century.

The walls are today in some parts as high as 25 meters and are surrounded by 4 quadrangular fortresses, 5 bastions and 12 square towers. At the entrance to the city, at Ploče Gate, there is the statue of St. Blasius from the 14th century and since 1979 the city center has been enlisted on the UNESCO world heritage list.

This second in the world most visited open museum will leave you breathless owing to its peculiar blend of sea, stone, culture and architecture.

Omiš

omis

Omiš is a true pearl for experts and experienced tourists looking for highly interesting destinations. This small city is situated at the mouth of the river Cetina, at the Adriatic coast close to Split and was mentioned as early as the Roman time under the name of Onaenum. Omiš has its specific and unique urban personality.

The part of the coast where the city is situated is surmounted by the slopes of Mosor and Omiš Dinara. Exactly that canyon drilled by the Cetina river is the paradise for white water rafters and paragliders. The city offers to its guests sandy and pebbled beaches, as well as unforgettable excursions to the canyon of the Cetina river and Radman mill. The same road takes the visitors more inland towards Cetina falls, Small and Big Gubavica and Blue and Red lake (natural phenomena in Imotska krajina). Wild cliffs and bays all along the coast that stretch deep into the interior of the continent are the reason why Omiš was chosen as the main base of pirates at the time of the Venetian rule and remained one for a couple of hundreds of years.

The pirates controlled a big part of the coast, where numerous merchant caravans passed, and mighty Venetians were therefore forced to sign contracts with them in order to secure peace.

Krka

krka

National park Krka comprises the area round the Krka river, the river that floats through a deep and picturesque canyon that is 75 meters long and creates noisy waterfalls.

There are two cultural and historical monuments that stand out: Franciscan monastery on the island of Visovac and Krka monastery.

Visovac is situated in the area where Krka gets wider, where green water opened the carst hills thus creating a harmonious blend of natural and historical heritage.

Surrounded by hilly Miljevac plato and beautiful Rupski field, it has, due to the hard work of local people, unified the surrounding beauty in the lap of its blue lake and has spited the storms of historical troubles through centuries.

This irresistible, charming cliff that monks have with their hard work transformed into an islet full of trees, colorful flowers, fruits and vegetables, has been magnetically attracting guests since ever.

Trogir

trogir-at-night

Trogir, the city famous for being the best preserved romanesque- gothic city in central Europe, the city enlisted on UNESCO world heritage list- offers numerous sights that are worth visiting.

Some of them are: The cathedral of st. Lawrence with the world famous Radovan portal, Kamerlengo tower, City gate, Čipiko palace, City Hall, st. Nicholas church, City museum, Pinakothek…

That is the city where centuries are interwoven like texts of a book written one above the other.

The beauty of the city lies in the fact that life simply continued here even after the Roman time. That is why it is the city of long lasting memories and myths that every stone of this charming little Mediterranen pearl tells to the visitors.

Hvar

corporateentertainmenthvar

The city of Hvar and its port surrounded by the Paklena islands and the island of Vis in the distance is the city that is opened to the south and sea, full of sun, light, lively, peaceful, popular, chaste and erotic at the same time. It derives its name from the word PHAROS- Greek word for the island and town that used to be situated in the area of the present day town of Stari Grad. In the 13th century the city of Hvar became the island’s center.

On the northern side of the island of Hvar, surrounded by lush green cypress trees and beautiful sandy beaches is Jelsa, one of the younger settlements on the island of Hvar.

It was named after jolha- an old Slavic word for a leaf shedding tree. Jelsa abounds in fresh water, and its beautiful park, so unusual for dry Dalmatian islands, only confirms that.

Solin

solin

The Croatian name Solin derives its origin from the Latin name Salona. For the first time that name was mentioned in 119 B.C., during the war between the Illyirians and Romans. But this settlement had been founded much earlier.

Old Greek geographer Strabon claims that Salona was the port of the Illyrian tribe Dalmatia, who probably were selling their products to Greek sailors. The remainings of the city walls and objects of Greek origin found in Salona and its surrounding indicate that the Greeks must have been those who founded this city.

Some mention the fourth century B.C. as a possible beginning of the city. It is obvious that in Salona Greek influence could be noticed very early. In the first century before Christ Salona was occupied by the Romans.
